There’s No Award for Doing Sobriety Alone: Why Support Is the Secret to Lasting Change

The Truth About Going Alcohol-Free Without Help
Let’s be honest.
There’s no gold medal for quitting drinking with the least amount of support possible.
I know that’s how many of us try to do it — me included. We treat sobriety like a badge of independence. Like middle schoolers waiting for the bus in 30-degree weather with no jacket. We’re the cool girls. We’re strong. We don’t need help. We’ve got this.
Except… we don’t. Not really.
We keep trying to get it — alone. We look for the easiest way, the free way, the quiet way. A five-day challenge. A short dry month. A $30 course. Something that feels like trying, but not overcommitting.
You do a few days alcohol-free. You feel proud — and you should! But soon, the old habits return. You sign up for another free program, hoping this time it sticks. Sometimes it works for a bit. Sometimes it doesn’t. Either way, you’re trying, and that matters.
Trying is not failing. Not trying is.
The Path From Trying to Thriving
Many women who come to me have already tried multiple programs, challenges, or apps. These are stepping stones, not failures. In coaching terms, this is the “contemplation stage” — the space between awareness and action.
It’s where courage is born.
When you’re ready for deeper change, that’s where 1:1 coaching support makes the difference.
Through coaching, women achieve and sustain sobriety — not by fixing themselves, but by healing from the inside out.
What Coaching Really Looks Like
Coaching isn’t about quick fixes. Yes, I’ll share my favorite tips and strategies to help you through early days alcohol-free. But sustainable change? That comes from relationship — the connection between coach and client.
This trusted space allows you to:
-
Be honest about what’s really happening without judgment.
-
Explore what’s beneath the drinking habit.
-
Learn self-compassion and emotional regulation.
-
Reconnect with your intuition and what truly brings you peace.
You can’t heal yourself using the same thought patterns that created the problem. Coaching offers a new lens — a mirror held with love.
Why Support Matters
Most women I work with realize that they’ve spent years trying to “do it alone.”
And while independence is powerful, healing happens in community.
In our sessions, clients learn how to care for themselves — gently, consistently, and without guilt. Over time, they give themselves permission to rest, to say no, to nurture their own needs. Eventually, they no longer need permission at all.
This transformation ripples outward — into marriages, parenting, friendships, and self-worth.
Life starts to feel lighter.
What Sobriety Really Gives You
When you’re not numbing out with alcohol, the world expands.
You notice the sound of your child singing in the shower, the sun hitting your skin, the warm weight of your dog’s head at your feet.
You realize your life is already full of beauty — you just couldn’t see it before.
Sobriety isn’t punishment; it’s awakening.
Invest in Support — You’re Worth It
There’s no award for going it alone.
But there is deep peace, freedom, and joy in finally asking for help.
Try getting the most support.
Try spoiling yourself sober — with coaching, community, and compassion.
It’s your most important job on earth: taking care of yourself.
