so this is the part nobody posts about
This Saturday, the air quality was so bad I wasn't supposed to spend much time outside.
So I stayed home. And it was lovely. Errands early, drawers organized, then a real do-nothing day—no guilt trip, no productivity math. I am a high-achieving, over-functioning, extroverted doer, so believe me: a beige Saturday used to feel like doing life wrong.
It's not wrong. And if you're around day 19 of Dry July, this is the exact week the private thought shows up:
Is this it? I thought I'd feel amazing by now.
Here's what's actually happening. Alcohol rents out your whole nervous system—fake spike, fake crash, repeat. Take it away and you don't get instant joy. You get quiet. And to a nervous system raised on noise, quiet feels like nothing is happening.
But something is. Your dopamine is recalibrating. Flat isn't failure. Flat is recalibration.
So here's your permission slip for week three: every feeling isn't an urgent call to action, including boredom. And I promise you from the other side: the flavor comes back.
Mine came back this weekend, mid-do-nothing-day. I've been reading an Elin Hilderbrand novel and just started The Five-Star Weekend—the series based on her book. Somewhere between the pages and the episodes I felt it: that fizzy, can't-sit-still excitement. Not for a drink. For a girls' weekend.
Because I'm hosting one. In Nashville, October 15–18.
Picture it: a luxe lake house at peak fall season, the trees doing their best work. Coffee on the deck while sparkles dance on the water. Optional hiking and kayaking in the afternoon, and a fire at night. A pajama dance party, charcuterie trays, beautiful spreads, and alcohol-free wine on the table. Deep, easy connection with women who get it — no explaining required. Evening yoga nidra sessions to lull you into deep sleep.
Plus one half day out on the town — shopping, bottomless N.A. drinks, and one great meal out (the only thing you'll pay for all weekend). Once you sign up, your preferences help shape the day: maybe brunch. Maybe a spa afternoon. Maybe live music. Maybe a sober celeb sighting — no promises, but it's Nashville, and I've got something up my sleeve.
Everything else is included. Just 10 guests, 2 hosts, and a couple of surprises I'm keeping to myself. This is what I mean when I say sobriety is a portal to an indulgent life — not a consolation prize. I love to treat my guests to over-the-top experiences for both restoration and indulgence.
And here's what actually happens to you: you'll arrive the way high-functioning women arrive everywhere—tired, holding everyone's everything. For four days, someone else holds it. You'll find out what your laugh sounds like when it isn't performed. You'll dance in your pajamas without a drink in your hand and realize you never needed one. You'll come home nervous-system-rested, with women in your phone who know the real you—and with evidence that this life isn't smaller without alcohol. It's bigger. Softer. Yours.
You arrive holding everything. You leave held.
4 spots left. When they're gone, they're gone. Bring a friend and make it your own five-star weekend — or come solo and leave with nine new ones.
If you felt a little flutter reading that, that's the flavor coming back. Follow it. If you want to share the king room with a sober bestie, just DM me for details.
