Leaving the glass half full: an invitation (and a new season ahead)
Hi Friend,
In 2018, I sat at a white-linen table on a random Tuesday night—Frank Sinatra humming in the background—across from my husband, Darin.
Between us was a glass of wine.
Half full.
From the outside, my life looked “good.” But inside? I felt exhausted, disconnected, and quietly terrified that I was living on autopilot—performing okay… while not feeling okay.
That night, I left the glass on the table.
And I chose a different story.
I’m sharing this with you because it takes courage to tell the truth… and I’m practicing courage out loud. Not because I’ve “arrived,” but because I know how many women are silently negotiating with something they’ve outgrown—whether it’s alcohol, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or the belief that you have to hit rock bottom to deserve change.
You don’t.
Sometimes transformation begins with one brave, ordinary decision:
to leave what no longer serves you… half full on the table.
I’m speaking at a conference—and I’d love to see you there
I’ve been asked to bring this message to the stage, and I’m honestly honored (and a little nervous in the best way). If you’ve ever felt like you’re surviving your life instead of living it, this talk is for you.
🎤 My session theme: From Surviving to Thriving
We’ll talk about:
-
Compassion over shame (because shame never changed anyone)
-
Letting grief live alongside you (grief is proof of love)
-
Spoiling yourself sober (and elevating your life instead of escaping it)
-
Radical acceptance (truth is where power returns)
-
Inspired, consistent action (momentum over perfection)
I am also moderating a panel that includes Insider Members Jen Roesler, Elizabeth Brooks, and Kate Danaj. Together we're going to change the conversation about addiction, recovery, and mental health. I am thrilled to highlight these inspirational stories of courage.
If you’re attending, hit reply and tell me you’ll be there—I want to meet you in person. Learn more HERE 🔗
Insider Community: First 90-Day Challenge — final 30 days
If you’re inside Insider, we’re in the home stretch of our First 90-Day Challenge, and I need to say this:
I’m seeing wins.
Not the flashy, social-media kind (although we love those too). I’m seeing the real ones:
-
“I’m sleeping through the night for the first time in years.”
-
“I went to dinner and didn’t drink… and I actually enjoyed it.”
-
“My anxiety is quieter.”
-
“I’m proud of myself."
-
"I'm 75% alcohol-free.”
-
"I'm 6 months alcohol-free."
I’ve also heard the words that never stop moving me:
"I'm noticing. And noticing the noticing."
“I feel like myself again.”
“I didn’t think I could do this.”
“I’m not alone."
If you’re in the challenge right now, keep going. The final 30 days aren’t about perfection—they’re about consistency and self-trust.
And if you’ve been watching from the sidelines… Consider this your gentle nudge. You can join us; it's not too late.
Sober Spring is coming. 🌱
A new season is almost here, and with it comes a fresh invitation:
lighter mornings, clearer weekends, more energy, and more presence.
Sober Spring is on the horizon, and I’m planning it to be supportive, motivating, and doable—even if you’re busy, even if you’re nervous, even if you’ve tried before.
If you want first access to details (and any early bonuses), check it out HERE đź”—
If my story landed anywhere in your heart, I’ll leave you with this:
You don’t have to wait for things to fall apart to choose something better.
You are allowed to want more peace.
You are allowed to build a life you don’t need to escape from.
And if you need a place to do it with support, Insider is here, and the final 30 days of the First 90 Day Challenge is the perfect runway to Sober Spring.
With you,
Heather
