I’m scared—and I’m showing up anyway
There’s a moment that happens before every big shift.
It’s quiet.
It’s subtle.
And it usually looks like a credit card form, a registration page, or a calendar invite.
It’s the moment you decide:
I’m going to take myself seriously.
Lately, I’ve been practicing that in real time.
I said yes to hosting my Galentine’s event.
Yes to two online writing classes.
Yes to an expensive evening networking event.
Yes to a new workout class (75 minutes!)
Yes to hosting neighbors.
Yes to attending a party where I will only know the host.
And honestly?
I’m scared.
But I’m showing up for myself anyway.
For so many women, spending money or time on themselves feels uncomfortable.
We’re taught to prioritize everyone else first.
To be practical.
To wait until things feel “certain.”
But growth doesn’t come from certainty.
It comes from commitment.
Paying for a class.
Joining a community.
Signing up for something that stretches you.
Showing up even when your nervous system is buzzing.
These aren’t just logistical decisions.
They’re identity decisions.
They say:
I am someone who learns.
I am someone who grows.
I am someone who shows up even when it feels vulnerable.
And here’s what I know for sure:
Almost everything meaningful in my life started with a scared yes.
I’ve met some of my best friends that way.
I’ve met incredible business partners that way.
I’ve made real progress on dreams that once only lived in my journal that way.
None of it happened by staying comfortable.
And here’s the truth I see again and again in the women I support (and in myself):
It’s not the content that changes everything.
It’s the act of choosing yourself.
It’s blocking the time.
It’s sitting in the discomfort.
It’s arriving tired, unsure, and imperfect—and doing it anyway.
That’s where self-trust is built.
That’s where confidence begins.
That’s where transformation quietly takes root.
You don’t have to overhaul your whole life today.
But you can take one brave step.
Maybe that looks like joining the 🔗 INSIDER Book Club—a soft place to land, reflect, and connect. We meet the last Monday of every month. This month's book is Are You Mad At Me? by Meg Josephson (reading it always optional; come for connection and conversation!)
Maybe it’s stepping into the 🔗 Insider Community—where you’ll be supported, seen, and reminded you’re not doing this alone.
Maybe it's grabbing your ticket to Sober in the City (read my latest blog on it 🔗 HERE).
You can say yes to learning.
Yes to support.
Yes to becoming.
Because the woman you’re becoming is built on these small, powerful moments.
And she’s worth every bit of it.
With love,
Coach Heather
PS: If you’re feeling the nudge, trust it. The brave "yes" is usually the doorway.
