The Drive Home
Hi Friend,
I made the bed. I hung the command strips. I found the right outlet for the mini fridge and the perfect spot for the fan, and I fussed with the closet longer than anyone needed me to.
And then there was nothing left to do but hug her and go.
My baby is in college. Both of my girls are at Mizzou now.
Walking out of that dorm and getting in the car without her felt impossible. Not hard—impossible. Like my body didn't have the instructions for that particular motion.
And then something surprising happened somewhere on the highway.
My husband and I congratulated ourselves the entire way home.
Job well done.
Because this was the end goal. This was always the end goal. Two capable young women, unpacking their own lives in rooms we don't live in. That isn't the loss. That's the whole win.
Here's what I keep turning over: it's been a letting go since the day they were born. The first night in her own crib. The first day of kindergarten. The sleepover, the driver's license, the door that starts closing. Every single stage of parenting has been a smaller version of that drive home. We've been practicing with this baby for eighteen years and with Big Sis for 21.
The long goodbye is over. And what's on the other side of it isn't an empty house—it's a blank page.
They're off starting their new lives.
So are we.
Which is why this week's Insider topic feels like it was written for me personally:
Being the Creator of Your Own Life.
Not the passenger. Not the one waiting to see what happens next. The creator.
I don't know what season you're in—maybe you're dropping a kid off, maybe you're leaving a job, leaving a marriage, leaving the wine, or just quietly done being who you've been. But I have never once seen a woman build a new life by accident. It gets created. On purpose. Usually with support.
Here's what's waiting for you this week:
Dropped today—the masterclass with Meg Geisewite, author of Intoxicating Lies, on Being the Creator of Your Own Life. This one is for your mind.
Dropped today—yoga nidra. For your nervous system. Because you can't think your way into calm when your body is still bracing.
Monday: our check-in call. Start the week with people who get it, led by Host Deb.
Thursday: group workshop and discussion—creating your own life. This is where it stops being an idea and starts being a plan. Hosted by me.
Education for your brain. Yoga nidra for your body. And the people—for accountability, connection, and friendship. Nobody does this alone and thrives.
Your first week is free. Come try it on, no strings. You could be on the call Monday. Catch the replay if you can't make it live.

One more thing, and then I'll let you go.
🍂 There is ONE spot left for Fall into Nashville.
One. I'm confirming the final details this week, and there are a few special surprises coming that I am having a very hard time keeping quiet about.
If you've been circling this retreat all summer—that last spot is yours until it isn't.

I'm going to go be sad about the quiet house for a minute, and then I'm going to go make something out of it.
What are you creating next?
Hit reply and tell me. I read everyone.
XO!
Heather
P.S. I've got something new coming in October for the men and women building businesses out of this work. I'm not saying more yet. Just... stay close. đź‘€
